NOTE: I missed a day, and this one includes a message from Calvin.
Dear Wyatt,
I missed yesterday’s email to you because your father and I saw a 4-hour Ancient Greek play series. The Oresteia, all about a family killing each other, one by one. It was actually really good but very, very long.
So Honey Bear, that faithless jerk of a cat, is starring in a video on the shelter Instagram page, and he literally HEAD BUMPS someone in the video. The copy next to it says he was returned and is auditioning forever families. A few commenters were all, “why do people return cats? It’s so evil.” I guess I need to email the shelter and say why we returned him, and mince no words. He’s not going to do better in another home if he can’t go to the bathroom outdoors. He’s a sprayer, for sure.
But still, we miss him in the morning.
My campaign to befriend all the neighbors is going well. Today I’m having coffee with a woman named REDACTED1 and then REDACTED2 the cat sitter is coming for a drink.
Love,
Mom
From your dad:
Hi!
How is camp? I hope it’s going really well and is lots of fun. We miss you at home. The house is very different right now with you gone and not to mention the absence of Honey Bear. I’m sure mom told you all about our returning him to the shelter, but did she mention that I was the one who finally managed to grab him by the scruff of the neck and put him in the carrier? I felt really bad after getting him in there but now that he is gone, I know it was the right decision. It will be exciting to get kittens when you are back from camp.
I watched the baseball all star game, but it was pretty boring. The American League won. Last night mom and I went to see a play: Oresteia. It was super interesting and only 3 hours and 45 minutes long. yes you read that right. But it was still good….Not great but interesting. It takes place in 500 BC ancient Greece but they staged it like it’s modern times with TV cameras and the main characters being interviewed for news shows because they’re important politicians.
Daisy’s job continues to be interesting and unpredictable. Maybe that’s not how she would characterize it, but she can tell long stories about insurance related facebook posts, so that’s something.
Alright, Wyatt, I love you and miss you. Have fun at camp, I hope you get to go on that inner tube that gets pulled behind the boat. That looks really fun on the instagram page.
Dad
