Neighborly neighbors and a dog!

I just met some neighbors, a lovely couple walking their Goldendoodle puppy (sporting a pronounced erection) in the alley. We had a great chat, but I do worry that nasty Maggie will see us together and then punish them through the wall. I told them this. They didn’t believe me.

So fun to talk to strangers. Although I realize I am a zealot about composting. I want everyone to compost all the time. I want to show people my compost bin. I showed them the compost bin and then I knew that it was time to go inside.

Work is getting better but I am still very tired. Also, my perimenopausal body is really doing a huge number on me with the sweating in the nighttime. It’s just weird. Every night is like the first week after I had babies, when my boy just sweat out all that extra water. Now it’s not that extreme but it’s just damp and strange.

Feline fairies, flying free

What I mean by this is that it’s time for a cat update. Venus is no longer mad at us. I now call her the Night Cat because she is around at night, contributing to my sweats. Cleopatra is now the Day Cat and/or Flopsy. She hangs out with me during the day and she flops all over the place, often rolling off furniture after the flopping.

The line, “Feline fairies, flying free,” comes from the serialized bedtime stories my mother told us, which apparently my brother also uses with his child. The stories were about two kids who had talking cats, and they had adventures and had to call on Feline Fairy for help, which they did through stilted rhymes. I told a few to my kids but the novelty of talking cats wasn’t that magical anymore.

Talking might ruin their charm. I gave the cats a basket for their toys but they have not learned how to put things away.

I need to call my mother. We are having a giant PTA party on Friday and I am very excited and not prepared.
