That’s the news of the day. We had a great party yesterday full of old friends, new friends, neighbors, and a colleague I have never laid eyes on before. Thanks to remote work.

It was just a hoot, and today I am totally wrecked and barely got out of bed. Calvin did too. He may have exercised. I did not. Shane is out of town with his friend and we are trying to figure out his sports life. Daisy just did a very brave thing and tried out for an improv group at college and will see if she gets on the team. [note: she did!]

These kids are so fun. I guess they’ll get worrisome at another time, but we started off from such a place of deep worry with Daisy and now we’re at a very different place of benign approval. I mean I can criticize Maude all day long (just watch me!) but on all the big things she’s killing it. Maybe just fewer half shirts?

A lot of neighbors came to our party and it and they all talked to each other. There was one grim moment when I realized they were all talking to each other about Con Edison. But on second thought, Con Ed lives is right next-door to all of us and why are constantly ripping up our streets? What is wrong under our streets? A crocodile infestation? Russian espionage?

Besides the mysteries of ConEd, the neighbors had really fun chats, and at the end people were like we’re gonna have drinks at our place. Yeah, we’re gonna have drinks at our place so that was exactly my secret plan that we would all have drinks at other times. We shall see.

I did not execute my plan of walking around with a clipboard and taking names for who wants to do karaoke, I just didn’t have time for that.
